ABSTRACT
In the context of career exploration, including entrepreneurial careers, ?breakthrough thinking? is distinguished from ?linear or rational thinking?. Attention is given to using narrative and constructivist approaches to career development especially concerning issues of time, age, money, formal education and confidence.

While linear and rational thinking may provide insights, they often fail to deliver effective action or fulfilling careers. In contrast, in career development, breakthrough thinking technologies are being used with dramatic effect.

This paper presents a practical approach to careers based on non-linear and narrative principles and illustrates how career development can be a catalyst to re-visioning the quality of one?s life.
